5 TIPS FOR DRUM ROOKIES

1. Practice every day
Unfortunately, there is no pill that you can take, to make you the best drummer in the world in seconds. It takes time to learn the skills of drumming. You have to put a lot of time and energy into it. Therefore, try to practice every day. Even if you only have 15 minutes or half an hour, it is better than nothing. If you practice every day, you will get a little better every day.

2. Set yourself a goal
Set yourself a goal that you want to achieve in six months or a year. Most people overestimate what they can achieve in a day, but underestimate what they can achieve in a year. Write down your goal and remind yourself of your goal. For example, you can stick a note with your goal on the mirror in the bathroom.

3. Learn from other people
Look around and learn from other drummers. If you observe musicians you can learn a lot. You may find that some people use a certain trick, a trick that could help you too. In any case, look for someone who could be your role model. Someone you look up to, someone you respect.

4. Be creative
If you practice the same rhythms every day, it will get boring after a while. Therefore, try to use your creativity while practicing. Maybe you can add something to the exercise, or try some improvisation.

5. Have fun
It is very important to be serious about being a drummer, but it is just as important to have fun. Playing music is having fun. Don't forget to enjoy it when you are playing. Try to maintain a positive attitude, even if it does not go your way. Everyone makes mistakes while playing, don't let them spoil the fun!
